Although many people have written to request a prayer for the swift rebirth of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen, this is something that is not part of the tradition of Mindrolling. Mindrolling is a blood lineage, rather than a reincarnation lineage. From the time of the first Mindrolling Trichen, Rigdzin Gyurme Dorje Terdag Linpa, Mindrolling has not sought out or recognized the tulkus of its throneholders and khenchens.

Rather, in keeping with the instructions of Terdag Lingpa himself, Mindrolling has relied upon the strength of the qualities of realization and erudition of those born into the familial line of the Trichens and left the reincarnations of the previous generations free to manifest their activity in whatever ways might most benefit beings. This tradition has been upheld continuously right from the time of Terdag Lingpa through to all the Trichens of the lineage. No search was made for their emanations. The great compassion and enlightened activity of bodhisattvas are endless and hence they continue to benefit beings in various forms. The masters of the Mindrolling lineage also bring ceaseless benefit and joy to all sentient beings throughout the three times.

Instead of supplications for a swift rebirth, Mindrolling traditionally recites a tshe rab je dzin soldeb or a supplication prayer requesting the Guru to nurture us in all successive lifetimes. Upon the passing of Terdag Lingpa into parinirvana, his son Pema Gyurme Gyatso composed such a prayer for the disciples at the time of the dissolution of the wisdom mind of the sovereign guru into dharmadatu. This prayer requests Terdag Lingpa to hold and nurture us throughout our successive lifetimes and has been recited in Mindrolling ever since, and it has been the tradition that as the Mindrolling Trichens have passed into parinirvana, a prayer that the Trichen continue to hold and protect his disciples has been composed.

In keeping with this tradition, the family of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen and the entire sangha of Mindrolling have supplicated the Supreme Refuge of all beings, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, to compose one such supplication for the disciples of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen as the nectar to benefit all beings left behind like children without their mother. His Holiness the Dalai Lama composed one such nectar like prayer as tshe rab je dzin soldeb and bestowed it to the sangha of Mindrolling. It was distributed and read on the 22nd of March on the occasion of the sixth week marking the passing of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen. HE Trulshig Rinpoche has also with great kindness composed a tshe rab je dzin soldeb for Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen. Both the prayers are being recited daily at the Mindrolling Monastery.

The great master Dungse Thrinley Norbu Rinpoche, a contemporary and friend of Kyabje Rinpoche, immediately composed a prayer for the continued flourishing of the activities of Kyabje Mindrolling Trichen Rinpoche. The entire Mindrolling sangha has been reciting this poignant heartfelt prayer daily since Thrinley Norbu Rinpoche so kindly sent it to the sangha.
